The Youth Philharmonic is the SCPYO's most advanced full orchestra for musicians with 4+ years playing experience. They perform professional-level repertoire and occasionally side-by-side the South Carolina Philharmonic.
The Youth Philharmonic meets from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the UofSC School of Music.
Committed to education, this year marks Neil’s fifth season as Music Director of the South Carolina Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and conductor of the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra.

Three-octave scales: One-quarter note per scale degree, quarter note=80
All strings will prepare the following three-octave scales:
Solo Requirement: Prepare a solo piece of choice that will showcase your technique, musicality, and overall playing ability.
Required Sight-Reading: All students will be required to sight-read a brief passage at their audition.
Excerpts: Please review all excerpts for your instrument. Not all excerpts may be asked for in the audition.
