BRING STUDENTS TO THE ORCHESTRA
Link Up, a program of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, guides students and teachers through a semester-long exploration of orchestral repertoire. Students sing and play soprano recorder or string instruments while learning basic musical concepts and composing their own music. This program provides extensive standards-based teacher and student materials and culminates in an interactive orchestral concert in which students sing or play along with the SC Philharmonic.
Sponsored by SC Arts Commission, Lipscomb Family Foundation and Symphony League
The SC Philharmonic Kids to Concerts programs offers students the opportunity to attend one of the Capital Concerts and to participate in a pre-concert meet and greet with Music Director, Morihiko Nakahara, and SC Phil musicians.
BRING THE ORCHESTRA TO STUDENTS
Carnival of the Animals is a humorous musical suite by the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns. Composed in 1886, it is structured in fourteen movements, each representing different animals or scenes.
Aesop’s Fables for narrator and chamber orchestra are light musical vignettes. Their descriptive and colorful character makes them attractive to the young musical ear. Aesop’s Fables was composed to introduce the instruments of the orchestra to elementary students and to teach them about the elements of music.
Our Adopt-a-Musician program brings South Carolina’s finest musicians into schools in order to talk about their musical lives, engage in musical discussions, share a live performance, and collaborate with teachers and students.
FOR EDUCATORS
By engaging with SC Phil musicians, students and teachers can benefit from their professional expertise, experience, and dedication to nurturing the next generation of musicians and enhancing the skills of educators.
