Symphony for All

The SC Phil has expanded the sensory-friendly concert into Special Education classrooms in public schools to enrich their arts-based education. The SCP began this program with visits to Meadow Glen Middle School and Deerfield Elementary School, reaching 45 students.

Choose Harmony

In June 2025, the SCP started “Choose Harmony”, a song-writing program for at-risk young people aimed at reducing violent crime in collaboration with board-certified music therapists, the City of Columbia’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement, Benedict College’s Music Industry Department, and the Richland District 1 Office of Drop-Out Prevention. So far, 15 students at risk of drop-out have benefited from personalized coaching with professional composers and musicians.

Conduct the Phil

Conduct the Phil takes the orchestra out of the concert hall and into the community so everyone can experience music-making first hand.
