Get ready for a week of music, creativity, and growth at the Soda City String Intensive! Designed for high school string players, this exciting summer program runs June 15–19 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the USC School of Music.

Spend your days making music with new friends through chamber groups and full orchestra, while also exploring new skills in conducting and composition. Whether you’re curious about what it’s like to be on the podium or want to try your hand at writing your own music, this program gives you the chance to expand beyond your instrument in a fun and supportive environment.

You’ll also learn how to practice more effectively, with guided strategies to help you make the most of your time in the practice room. Combined with sessions on musician wellness, students will gain tools to stay healthy, focused, and confident both on and off the stage.

We’re especially excited to welcome guest conductor Dr. Lani Hamilton—Director of the USC String Project, Professor of Music Education, and a dynamic, experienced youth orchestra conductor—who will lead and inspire students throughout the week.

Plus, participants get exclusive access to a Region Orchestra Audition Prep Class immediately following the camp. You’ll leave feeling confident, prepared, and ready to succeed at auditions.

From building ensemble skills to developing smarter practice habits, the Soda City String Intensive is more than just a camp—it’s a chance to grow, connect, and take your playing to the next level. Come join us at USC for an unforgettable week of music!

This project is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts
