Healing Harmonies

Since 2013, this venture lets generous, caring members of the community place S.C. Phil musicians in area healthcare facilities... soothing the soul while the body mends.

Ensembles of S.C. Phil musicians go into a facility to present an upbeat, hour-long performance of classical and contemporary favorites. Click here to read a report from on a Children's Hospital performance

Performances to date have lifted spirits of patients in Palmetto Health's Children's Hospital and its Cancer Center, plus Midlands mental health facilities, with more scheduled in the semi-regular series. The program began thanks to the work of Dr. Frank Clark (right) while he was a member of the S.C. Philharmonic Board of Directors. The then-psychiatric resident's career moved him from Columbia in 2014, but the program continues to grow.

Music is the universal language that transforms the mind, body and soul. The Healing Harmonies performances emphasize the importance of a holistic approach to care. The S.C. Phil is asking generous individuals and companies to help support this important outreach program.
