The program for 2019!

Since 2012, South Carolina 3rd through 5th graders have learned that the orchestra moves, swings, and sings. They'll learn that it also ROCKS as the S.C. Phil presents the Carnegie Hall program The Orchestra Rocks!

One universal element of music is rhythm. Composers and musicians play with elements of musical time, creating patterns of sound and silence that are expressive and exciting. A consistent groove can unite musicians, singers, and audiences in an experience of listening and performing together. Through the Link Up repertoire, hands-on activities, and a culminating interactive performance with a professional orchestra, we will discover how the orchestra rocks.

Admission: $5.25 per person. Groups of 200+ are $4.75 per person.

TEACHERS & PARENTS:

The South Carolina Philharmonic partners with Carnegie Hall’s Weill Institute to present The Orchestra Rocks!, an interactive experience for students in grades 3-5, in February 2019.

Young people in the audience will actually sing and play their recorder along to the music of the orchestra. This year's program explores rhythm and pulse, drawing on selected orchestra repertoire. Link Up provides a unique opportunity to connect classroom learning with a live performance. The optional curriculum will be available beginning in September 2018 and includes a host of musical selections from famed composers!
