The Koger Center sells out when she even thinks of walking onto its stage. In November, she's back. And she's not alone this time.

Pianist Marina Lomazov is joined by husband Joe Rackers for the world premiere of the SCP-commissioned Double Concerto by John Fitz Rogers, supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Not enough for you? Music Director Morihiko Nakahara also fits in Kodaly's The Peacock, Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra and a special welcome to the Society of Composers, Inc.'s National Conference by Kevin Walczyk.

Thoughts from Morihiko:

“We are fortunate to have the University of South Carolina and its School of Music in our community. Several of the outstanding faculty members and most advanced students are members of the SC Phil. Personally, I have enjoyed getting to know them as colleagues and friends. Out of these friendships and professional admirations come tonight’s special highlight – the world premiere of John Fitz Rogers’ latest work featuring Marina and Joe. About the piece itself … well, at the time of writing, it’s not yet complete so I can’t say anything specific. Needless to say, we are all very excited about bringing this new creation to life and sharing it with you, and collaborating with some of your favorite musicians who also call Columbia their home.  Completing this must-see-event are two sets of vibrant variations for orchestra.”
