MEDIA CONTACT 4 December 2007 Philharmonic and Bible Way Church present Christmas concert COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Philharmonic reaches out to spread holiday cheer by performing in the Bible Way Church of Atlas Road’s Christmas concert Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. The concert features Bible Way’s choir and Dream Team band. The Philharmonic will join the Bible Way ensembles for select works such as traditional favorites “Angels We Have Heard On High” and “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” and also “A Soulful Celebration” – a version of Handel’s cherished Messiah. Robert E. Stepp, president of the SCP Board of Directors, said, “I am delighted that the SCP and Bible Way Church have come together for this historic program. The orchestra is very interested in reaching out to diverse audiences, and I hope will be this will be just one of many such cooperative efforts.” Dr. Manuel Alvarez, artistic advisor to the Philharmonic during its 2007/2008 season, will conduct the orchestra, which is featured in four works, including “Carol of the Bells” and Bizet’s “Farandole” movement of L’Arlesienne Suite No. 2.
