Nakahara, SCP musicians to help Japan relief effort

Music Director Morihiko Nakahara and South Carolina Philharmonic musicians are to perform at a Wednesday, April 20th benefit in Columbia for victims of the Japan earthquake and tsunami.

Nakahara will present a small ensemble of SCP musicians, scheduled to perform favorite classical works.

The “Red Dot 4 Japan” benefit and cultural event goes from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the Marriott Hotel, 1200 Hampton Street. There is to be a silent auction of Japanese art from 5 to 7 p.m., plus Japanese food and other performances. An American Red Cross representative will accept donations on that organization’s behalf. “Red Dot 4 Japan” event proceeds will go to the Red Cross as well, designated for earthquake and tsunami aid.
