'Morihiko at the Mansion' opens Philharmonic season with style
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina First Lady Jenny Sanford is the honorary hostess for a 6 p.m. gala at the Governor’s Mansion Thursday, Sept. 4 to welcome Morihiko Nakahara to South Carolina.
“Morihiko at the Mansion” begins with wine and hors d’oeuvres at the Governor’s Mansion and is followed by a 7 p.m. dinner at the Lace House and mansion grounds from Dupre Dukes Signature Catering. Individual Philharmonic musicians provide musical interludes throughout the evening.
The event serves to welcome the Philharmonic’s new music director, Morihiko Nakahara, to Columbia and kick off the orchestra’s 2008/2009 season. Joining the first lady as hosts are event Chairwoman Shirley Henderson and a 52-member Host Committee.
Cocktail attire is encouraged for “Morihiko at the Mansion.” Complimentary valet parking from Southern Valet is available, and the event is handicapped accessible.
