Reviewed: Russian Fireworks

Below, find two concert reviews for Russian Fireworks, which was Friday, Sept. 9 at the Koger Center. Violinist Sayaka Shoji was featured soloist, performing the beloved Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. Music Director Morihiko Nakahara also presented works by Shostakovich and Prokofiev, opening the season with an all-Russian composers theme.

"... under the determination of Nakahara and the superb management of the orchestra, literally all the right people were booked to play this opening concert. Adding the challenge of the Prokofiev to the Tchaikovsky seemed daring. What was heard was a performance of Prokofiev’s Fifth that clicked in every way."
