'Tasting Notes' debuts as flagship fundraiser

Tasting Notes, a wine and food fundraiser for the South Carolina Philharmonic, makes its debut Monday, April 29, 2013 at the State Museum from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

“The event takes place 50 years to the day from the SCP’s first concert, so we’re happy to officially begin a year-long celebration marking 50 seasons in the Midlands for the orchestra,” SCP Executive Director Rhonda Hunsinger said.

Tasting Notes expects to attract more than 350 wine and food lovers from throughout the Midlands. In partnership with Republic National Distributing Company, guests will enjoy sampling more than 50 fine wines from around the world while tasting a tempting array of epicurean delights from Midlands’ restaurants. Guests can purchase the wine they’ve tasted that evening and bid on specialty wines in the silent auction.

Restaurants providing food selections include Blue Marlin Seafood and Steaks, EarthFare, Gervais & Vine, Good Life Café, Hudson's Classic Catering, M. Fresh, M. Vista, Miyo’s, Mrs. B’s Southern Kitchen, Pearlz Oyster Bar, Rue 77, Tombo Grill, Terra, Thirsty Fellow Pizzeria and Pub, Travinia Italian Kitchen, and Villa Tronco.

The lively atmosphere will be complemented by the sounds of the Reggie Sullivan Quartet. Guests may take a break outside if they choose, where The Cigar Box will sell cigars in a special lounge area.

Tasting Notes is a business casual event. Tickets cost $75 per person or $125 per couple and can be purchased on SCPhilharmonic.com/TastingNotes or by calling SCP Audience Services at 803.254.PHIL (7445).

The SCP also offers guests a chance to join the host committee for $125 per person or $250 per couple. Sponsorship opportunities for individuals or businesses are available as well. For more information, call 803.771.7937.
