Thoughts from Morihiko

“I’m unofficially billing our Certified S.C. Grown season finale as 'Celebration of South Carolina' with an emphasis on the wonderful group of musicians who live and work in the Palmetto State. First, we’ll be joined by Yuriy Bekker, concertmaster/artistic advisor of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra and a dear friend, who will perform Under an Indigo Sky by Charleston-based and USC-educated composer Edward Hart. In three brief movements, Edward paints a musical homage to our state, each movement depicting Columbia’s rivers, mountains in Upstate, and the ocean breeze of Charleston and the Lowcountry.

Choruses and vocal soloists from throughout South Carolina will join the SC Phil in Beethoven’s monumental Ninth Symphony, 'Ode to Joy.' It promises to be an unforgettable and glorious end to our journey together through the 2011/2012 season.”

Prices are $53, $45, $35, $27 or $23. Student and military discounts available.
