"Luau with the Phil" to bring festive air to downtown
The islands beckon you to an enticing Hawaiian-style luau to celebrate another successful season and raise money for the South Carolina Philharmonic, 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 13 at The Hall at Senate’s End in Columbia.
The Hawaiian theme of “Luau with the Phil” puts an exotic, island twist on the latest version of the Philharmonic’s annual spring fundraiser, which in recent years has evolved into a casual, beach party event. Guests can indulge in a tempting array of food and beverages, entertainment, dancing and live music from steel drum band Island Close By, bringing a festive, tropical atmosphere to downtown Columbia. And for $20, guests can participate in a “wine grab,” where they can reach into a covered barrel to retrieve one of several bottles of wine with a value of at least $20.
The party returns to The Hall at Senate’s End in Columbia’s Vista. The Hall at Senate’s End, 320 Senate Street, is operated by Vista Events, the providers of the evening’s food and beverages. Guests can expect a menu of roasted pig, island chicken, palm-wrapped grouper, grilled Maui pineapple and decadent desserts, along with a full bar featuring the Morihiko Mai Tai in honor of Music Director Morihiko Nakahara. Complimentary valet parking is provided by Southern Valet.
“Luau with the Phil” is presented by the SCP, event chairs Shirley Henderson and Lynn Hodge and a host committee of 50 generous individuals.
Tickets to “Luau with the Phil” are $75 per person and include food, drinks and entertainment. Hawaiian casual attire is encouraged!
