How to Donate

There is a variety of ways you can pledge and donate to Beyond Measure: Campaign for the South Carolina Philharmonic.

All gifts to Beyond Measure are fully tax-deductible. You will be sent an acknowledgment letter once your gift has been received.

Step One: Pledge

We respectfully request that you download, print out and submit a pledge form. Doing so not only allows the SCP to plan for your gift and count it toward our $1.5 million goal, but just as importantly allows us to properly recognize you for your generous donation and develop a mutually beneficial relationship with you.

Step Two: Donate

We welcome your donation via the method with which you're most comfortable.

However, please note that checks (personal, business or cashier's) reduce credit card fees for the SCP, enabling us to put more of your gift to work.

Online

The Central Carolina Community Foundation houses the SCP Endowment and accepts secure debit/credit card donations online, 24-hours a day.

  • PLEASE NOTE: For your gift to be credited to the SCP, you must designate your gift to "South Carolina Philharmonic" in the "Specific Fund" field.

To pay via debit/credit card or arrange to be billed, he SCP Development Staff welcomes your phone call during SCP business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday). The SCP accepts American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa.

Lester L. Bates, Jr. Memorial Fund

In 1963, Lester L. Bates, Jr. played a leading role in the formation of the Columbia (now South Carolina) Philharmonic, working with other patrons of the arts who realized the importance of having an orchestra in Columbia. He became the orchestra’s president in 1965.

Lester helped create the foundation of an organization that has grown into a nationally-recognized ensemble of professional musicians. The arrival of Maestro Morihiko Nakahara has further enhanced the orchestra’s artistic growth, as well as its efforts to increase education and outreach in the community and create a positive economic impact.

The Lester L. Bates, Jr. Memorial Fund was established to honor Lester’s hard work and dedication to the South Carolina Philharmonic. His fund is part of the SCP’s endowment and is housed at the Central Carolina Community Foundation, where it is being managed carefully and thoughtfully to ensure that Columbia and the Midlands will always have a symphony orchestra.
